 Brackley has a very long, diverse and interesting history but it all seemed to be stored in other
museums or people’s heads or attics.

Sometime in late 2021 we realised that Brackley was expanding rapidly and it might be a good time
to establish some way of sharing its heritage with the old and new residents and the idea of a
museum was born.
It was quickly established that if we were to have some form of museum display we would have to
sort all aspects ourselves, no help seemed to be available from the usual sources. It was also
important to make sure this was run for and by people from Brackley

We felt that Brackley library, for many reasons, would be the ideal place to site a permanent display,
our approach was well received and permission was quickly granted.
Conscious that this venture needed funding we approached EKFB who on receiving our business plan
confirmed they, along with Sun Belt Rentals Ltd would fully support us and gave us the green light to
go ahead.

Much thought went into the best way to get the most out of the space we have available. It was felt
that the displays should be changed every 4 months and that we should establish contact with
schools and work with them in any way that may be of benefit for them.
Once we had decided on a plan at was all systems go, cabinets were ordered, assembled and
installed a committee was formed, insurance obtained and the myriad of minutia that accompanies
a venture like this dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Once the logistics were sorted we appealed for artifacts to display, we established relationships with
local museums, the Northants artifact repository, historians and the local people who after a
stuttering start have been nothing short of magnificent in their support.

All this has led to the opening of this Brackley Community Museum, we hope you enjoy the display,
